Jessica Berndt is quickly becoming synonymous with excellence in the world of music supervision. A hidden gem right under our noses in Indianapolis, Indiana, Jessica’s journey is one that every music enthusiast and entertainment industry should follow.

The Early Days

Jessica’s love for music was evident from a young age. She spent countless hours curating the perfect playlist for every occasion. This early passion for music laid the foundation for her future career. Talking to her, you can hear how her life’s passion is to work with great people and artists. It’s refreshing to encounter someone so dedicated to good music in an industry where everything often feels like fast food.

A Chance Encounter

After falling in love with the record labels during high school, Jessica landed an accounting job with Secretly Group,a prominent media company known for its eclectic roster of artists like Bon Iver, Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, and many more. This was her foot in the door, but she needed more than just a chance to shine. Jessica mentioned a few years before that she appliedo be a summer intern and and didn’t hear anything back, so what meant will happen.

Enter Chris Swanson,to be a summer intern and
with a wealth of experience. She began assisting him with music clearances for various projects, learning the ropes of the industry. Despite her humble demeanor, Jessica is a rockstar in her own right. In today’s world, women in music are changing the way things are done, and some of the biggest managers, movers, and shakers are women.

Stepping into the Spotlight

As Jessica honed her skills, opportunities began to unfold. Her big break came when she was asked to be the music coordinator for a docuseriesby the Way brothers, Chapman and Maclain, known for their compelling documentaries “Wild Wild Country” and “Untold.” Working on these projects, Jessica found her stride. 

Breakthrough Projects

Jessica’s career trajectory took a significant turn as she started working with acclaimed filmmakers like Hannah Fidell (“A Teacher,” “The Long Dumb Road”), Brett Haley (“Hearts Beat Loud,” “All The Bright Places”), and Jake Johnson (“Ride the Eagle,” “Self Reliance”). Each project was a new adventure, a new story to tell through music.
