The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine has come to a close, and it was a great opportunity for hundreds of prospects to showcase their skills and improve their draft stock. Here are the biggest storylines, top performers, and prospects who may have hurt their draft stock.
One of the biggest storylines coming out of the combine was Bryce Young’s measurables. Young met the desired height and weight thresholds, which is a positive sign for him, but he will need to maintain his weight throughout his playing career. Another standout performer was Anthony Richardson, the former Florida quarterback who dominated the event with his otherworldly athletic gifts, meeting or even exceeding the high expectations many had for him.
Among the prospects who helped their draft stock the most were Adetomiwa Adebawore, an EDGE/DL from Northwestern who tested off the charts in essentially every category, and Jakorian Bennett, a CB from Maryland who showcased elite explosiveness and ran a 4.30 in the 40. Meanwhile, Kayshon Boutte, a WR from LSU, and Jordan Addison, a WR from USC, were among those who may have hurt their draft stock due to underwhelming performances.
As for the quarterbacks, all three of the top prospects who threw (Richardson, Will Levis, and C.J. Stroud) impressed with their throwing ability. Stroud, in particular, lived up to the hype surrounding him. Overall, the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine was a great event for these prospects to showcase their skills, and it will be interesting to see how their performances translate to the upcoming NFL Draft.
